How to Export a GPX File from Komoot

Learn how to download your Komoot hike, ride, or run as a GPX file to use with Stamptivity for custom activity stats overlays on your photos.

Komoot is popular among hikers, trail runners, and cyclists for route planning and activity tracking. Every completed tour on Komoot can be exported as a GPX file, which you can then use in Stamptivity to overlay your activity stats — elevation, distance, time, heart rate — on any photo.

What You'll Need

  • A Komoot account with at least one completed tour
  • A desktop browser or the Komoot mobile app

Method 1: Export via the Komoot Website (Recommended)

1. Open Komoot in a Browser

Go to komoot.com and sign in to your account.

2. Go to Your Tours

Click your profile name or avatar in the top-right corner, then select Tours from the dropdown. This shows your completed activities.

3. Open the Tour

Click the tour (hike, ride, or run) you want to export.

4. Download the GPX File

On the tour detail page, look for the Download button — it typically appears as a downward arrow or within a "..." options menu on the right side of the page. Click it and select GPX from the options.

The file will download with a name like komoot_tour_12345678.gpx.

Method 2: Export via the Komoot Mobile App

  1. Open the Komoot app on your iOS or Android device
  2. Tap Profile (bottom navigation)
  3. Tap Tours and select the completed activity
  4. Tap the Share icon (iOS: top-right; Android: three-dot menu)
  5. Select Export as GPX if available, or share to another app

Note: GPX export on the mobile app may require a Komoot Premium subscription for some account types. The website export is available on all accounts.

Upload to Stamptivity

Once you have the .gpx file:

  1. Open Stamptivity
  2. Drop your GPX file onto the upload area
  3. Your stats load instantly — no account, no server upload
  4. Pick a template, add a background photo from your hike or ride, and export

Tips for Hikers Using Komoot

  • Elevation data from Komoot is typically very accurate since it uses both barometric data and GPS correction. The elevation widget in Stamptivity will reflect this.
  • Heart rate appears in Stamptivity if your Komoot tour was recorded with a heart rate monitor (via phone sensor or a paired Bluetooth HR strap).
  • Komoot routes (planned but not completed) cannot be exported as GPX with activity stats. Only completed tours contain actual speed, time, and HR data.
  • Stamptivity automatically detects hiking and cycling activity types from your Komoot GPX, adjusting the available stat widgets accordingly.
