How to Turn a GPX File Into an Image (Route Map + Stats)

Convert a GPX route into a shareable image — route map plus distance, time, elevation, and pace — exported as JPG or PNG. Free, browser-based, no account.

A GPX file is just a list of coordinates and timestamps — not something you can post. But the ride inside it makes a great image: the route drawn as a clean line, your distance and elevation called out, maybe over a photo from the day.

This guide shows how to turn a GPX file into a shareable JPG or PNG with Stamptivity Stamp — free, in your browser, nothing uploaded.

What "GPX to Image" Actually Means

A GPX-to-image tool reads the GPS track and renders it as a graphic:

  • The route as a map line, auto-scaled to fit
  • Key stats — distance, moving time, elevation gain, average pace or speed
  • Optional heart rate, cadence, or power when the file includes them
  • An optional photo background from the activity
  • The activity title and date

The result is a single picture sized for Instagram, a blog, or a race recap — not a screenshot of an app.

Step by Step

1. Get your GPX file

Export it from wherever the activity lives — Strava, Garmin, Wahoo, COROS, Komoot, or an Apple Watch. A .fit file works too.

2. Open Stamp and drop the file

Go to Stamptivity Stamp and drop your .gpx (or .fit). It reads the route and stats immediately and shows a live preview.

3. Pick a template and add a photo

Choose a layout, then optionally drop a photo from the ride to use as the background. Drag the stats and route where you want them, and pick which numbers to show.

4. Export as JPG or PNG

Export the finished image. Use JPG for a smaller file that's ideal for social platforms, or PNG for crisp edges and transparency.

JPG or PNG — Which?

  • JPG — smaller, perfect for Instagram, Strava posts, and messaging. Slight compression, invisible at normal sizes.
  • PNG — larger, lossless, supports transparency. Choose it if you want the route line on a transparent background to drop into another design.

Just the Route, or Route Plus Stats?

Stamp does both. Show only the route line for a minimalist map graphic, or include the full stat block for a recap card. The route is drawn from the GPX coordinates, so it matches the path exactly — no separate map service needed, and nothing about your location is sent anywhere.

Nothing Leaves Your Device

Stamp parses the GPX and renders the image locally in the browser. Your route and your photo stay on your computer.

A GPX file holds a great-looking ride. Stamp turns it into something you can actually post — in under a minute, for free.
